This is a 60 minute Zoom workshop from 10-27-24. This is a the third of a three part series for the tune Red Wing. This class focuses on the application of licks learned in previous classes and expanding our vocabulary with new licks and phrases. We walk through the process of determining which parts of the melody to keep, which parts to swap out with licks, and how to develop licks and variations that target melody notes. We listen to Jerry Douglas' solo from John McEuen's album String Wizards and learn a few of his signature licks, some great timing ideas, and apply his solo structure in a more accessible way to create our own unique solo.
